Because I needed a laugh today, here’s something I hope will make other people smile too,
Louis XVI aka Jason Schwartzman, along with his dog Arrow, in matching wigs.
You’re welcome.

7.23.14

George Takei describes the moment when he and his family were sent to an internment camp.

A thing that is rarely ever mentioned is that even after they were freed from the camps, the government kept all their stuff.

As in all their lands, homes, bank account contents etc. that had been all confiscated when they were imprisoned, were never returned to them. (I don’t know if it was done to all the prisoners or just ones who had land in areas the government wanted etc., but it happened.)

To this day, people who are part of the families of the former prisoners seem to be the only ones who remember this. (We would not even know if not for older relatives who were prisoners in the camps telling us.)

Even when you hear about the internment camps, I never heard it mentioned on TV the added horrible fact that when it ended, people had to rebuild their lives from total zero.
(The victims were also probably wary to complain about it publicly because they worried that they might be imprisoned again if they did, so they just started anew from nothing and that’s it.)

At least the camps in the US were nowhere as bad as the ones in Japan, to which American people were sent during the war (the wartime thing of imprisoning people that a local government views as being “on the enemy side” is a horrible practice that is rather widespread in the world) and where starvation, forced labor at times until the prisoner died etc. were not uncommon.
But being in a camp in any case is a terrible experience, anywhere.

War brings out terrible things, worldwide. Which is why it’s so important to remember it all to avoid repeats of such things. :(

i remember one time the simpsons made a joke about fox news and they got so insulted they tried to sue them but the court was like “this aired on ur network u can’t sue urself”

bonnefoybaggins asked:
Why does it matter that Galadriel is on the ground? Gandalf is on the ground and nobody is ccomplaining. It just seems like feminist look for something to complain about. Frankly I'm glad they aren't showing her as some Mary-Sue, like most elves are shown as. That poster makes her seem human, in a tough battle ready to protect the one she loves.

ewebean:

  • she’s an elf queen
  • she’s a powerful sorceress
  • Gandalf, in absolute terms, is a Maia and is considerably more powerful than her. But he is expressly forbidden by the Valar to never use his full strength
  • Galadriel is of elvenkind but she has no such limitations and has protected Lorien from decay and corruption for a millennia
  • She has been on Middle-Earth longer than Gandalf and has thus seen and participated in great events which is most likely why he highly respects her council
  • they didn’t take any liberties showing her tremendous powers in LOTR other than that scene
  • oh yesimage
  • that scene
  • you just called elves mary-sues
  • bye

Needs no caption. Their facial expressions are funny enough.

if you look at the pics from top to bottom it looks like scotty told spock a terrible joke and he’s gradually getting more and more disappointed when spock doesn’t laugh
